de Heusch, Lucio

Lucio de Heusch was born in Sherbrooke, QC, in 1946. He studied at the Montreal School of Fine Arts and the Department of Plastic Arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQÀM). He has taught in the Departments of Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa and at UQÀM, his Alma Mater.

Rigorous in his pictorial approach, his painting testify to a constant tension between flatness and texture, abstraction and figuration as well as a complex representation of simultaneity between the nearness and the distant.

Lucio de Heusch can be classified in the group of Quebec Plasticiens with, among others, Yves Gaucher, Guido Molinari and Claude Tousignant.

Lucio de Heusch died in Montreal in 2018.
