Azza, Hachmi

Hachmi Azza was born in Morocco in 1950. He studied first at the École des Beaux-Arts of Tetouan and at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts and at the Superior School of Architecture and Visual Art in Brussels, Belgium. It is there that he was introduced to the mezzotint, “mezzotinto”, this very particular technique of printmaking.

We saw the work of Hachmi Azza for the first time in the context of “La manière noire dans tous ses états”, international exhibition presented by our gallery as part of the Games of la Francophonie 2001 and which included printmakers from four continents. It is since that time that we present the work of Hachmi Azza.

Hachmi Azza lives and works in his studio in Solingen, Germany.
